Reason - $1000
It's a nice piece of software if you can afford it. I'd still recommend starting with FL Studio and then buying reason later. Reason cannot record where FL Studio can. Reason sounds better by default but it's no where near as user friendly as FL Studio. A real bonus of owning reason and FL Studio is that you can rewire reason to run syncopated with FL Studio.
There's tons of options but I'd check out these 2 first, they both have demos that you can download so try them out and see which one works for you.
